Are We There Yet?

I was thrilled to see the ‘red carpet’ welcome for our newest students:  our Preps. It was a reminder to me of the amazing privilege we have at Brisbane Christian College to journey with our students as they walk from childhood to young adulthood. Life is a journey not just a series of events. I am reminded of Paul’s words in Philippians 1:6 (NLT): And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Our new Preps have begun their long education journey (a huge ‘well done’ to all the Mums and Dads of our newest academics). They have not finished but they are each well on their way. I like the idea that each of us are also on our journey. Jesus has called us to relationship as we walk with Him through the challenges and joys of life.

When I was young our family used to go on road trips from Sydney to Melbourne. Dad would get us to work out our average speed and time of arrival as a way of keeping us busy (I know, fun family!) What that showed us was that while we ‘were not there yet’, we were on our way. When I am confronted with personal challenge or failure I rest back on the assurance that while ‘I am not there yet’ I am on my way.

Welcome to 2018 which is now well under way. We have not finished but we have made a great start, thanks to all our College families who chose to journey with Brisbane Christian College.
