Thriving in Every Season

John 10:10 (NLT)
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Psalm 1:3 New Living Translation (NLT) They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
Bearing fruit in each season. One thing I have learned is that life has seasons. The thing about seasons is they don’t last forever—one season passes and another one begins.
I remember the season that Lee and I were married without children, then came the small child/baby season with all its pressure and busyness, that season gave way to the next and now our sons are men, establishing their independent lives. We have moved from instructors to be coaches—parenting is very different in this season.
But life has financial seasons, health seasons, seasons of blessing and seasons of loss. The promise here is that those who delight in God will prosper and bear great fruit in every season! What a powerful promise. It is human nature to look to the end of our current season, or compare our season with someone else’s. We can find ourselves saying, ‘when the kids are in school….’ or ‘when I can re-enter the workforce…..’ or ‘when I get a bigger house…’, or ‘when the kids leave school…’ The challenge with this thinking is it robs us of the wealth, blessing and ‘fruit’ of our current season.
Some of my most cherished memories are of times I spent with my boys when they were very small. I am so glad that I embraced that season. Now they are men that season is a distant memory, however it deposited so much into the current season we are travelling together.
Regardless of the season you are in now, embrace it. Believe that even in difficult seasons God is working for your good and ultimate blessing (Romans 8:28)
