A Chapter in our journey

As we approach the end of another year it is always rewarding to sit back and reflect on God’s provision through the journey that was 2018. The Secondary team welcomed two new staff members, Mrs Dianne Heymans and Miss Claire Li. Eighteen new young people began their journey in Secondary at Brisbane Christian College and we celebrated nine new classrooms and a fantastic Theatre with the opening of the Senior Secondary Precinct. God is so good! All this on top of the usual highlights of our calendar. The House sports competitions under the guidance of Mr Allen-Ankins and our Heads of House continue to grow. This year’s production of Anything Goes was a huge success, the quality of onstage performances was excellent, lifted by the student-led choreography and high student involvement in staging and the accompanying band. Our debating teams have enjoyed their most successful competition season yet, with our Year 9 debaters progressing through to the final rounds, with wins against a range of larger schools. Across the board our students continue to represent our College with pride. It is always my pleasure to receive feedback from the general public praising our young people on their behaviour whilst representing our College.
At the end of 2017 we celebrated the highest academic results in the College’s history, and as I type this reflection the Class of 2018 are on track to add another page to that history. Under the watchful and guiding care of Mrs Christine Thomas, our graduating class have positioned themselves to depart our College successfully and confidently step into the next chapter of their journeys.
All of these things and more are made possible by the amazing staff and supporters of our College. I am so proud and humbled by the way our team go above and beyond to empower our kids to find success in their worlds. To our team, I say thank you for another outstanding year. To you, our families I say thank you for partnering with us to continue to challenge and shape the next generation of leaders in our country and beyond. 2018 has been a truly blessed year and I constantly thank God for the privilege of being part of this community and for His consistent and abundant blessings that continue to flow over our College and wider community.
