Middle School Matters

What is it that matters to you?
Our Middle School community in 2018 has continued our journey of discovering what really matters in this Christ-centered dynamic learning environment.
As a Middle School team, we have sought to consider and understand the children in our classes more deeply. We have been challenged to reflect on our practice. And, we have aimed to continually be innovative in our delivery to enable our children to reach greater heights. All of this because these are the things that really matter to us.
What matters to our children?
Let’s hear from one of our Year 7 children:
‘Middle School has taken my learning to a whole other level. Learning here isn’t limited to just copying words from the whiteboard or textbook. We are encouraged to approach learning from a different perspective. It is about how and where I can best learn to improve. I have been encouraged to take learning into my own hands and push beyond my ‘comfort zone’ with the teachers facilitating not ‘teaching’.
Also, I like how our Christian faith is involved in everything we learn. The teachers have helped us see ‘the God factor’ in all we do. Therefore, my brain capacity hasn’t only increased with worldly wisdom and knowledge but my faith and trust in God has also grown as well.’
In Hebrews 10:24 we are urged to ‘discover creative ways to encourage others and motivate them’ (TPT) and in 1 Corinthians 10:13 we are all charged with living lives that glorify and honour God. How are we doing that in our Middle School?
We are a community who are passionate about assisting and guiding learning in exhilarating and creative ways. We seek value and purpose in every individual and we aspire to seeing everyone achieve their personal best.
In Middle School at Brisbane Christian College, those things are what ultimately matter to us.
