Overcoming Fears at Year 5 Camp
On Wednesday, 19 June, Year 5 set off for our camping trip at Numinbah Valley. There was a lot of excitement in the air as several students had never been camping before and would sleep in tents for the first time.
The activities were a lot of fun and everyone was challenged to overcome fears and demonstrate resilience and courage by trying new things, such as archery and zooming down the flying fox. Each group had a chance to explore the scenery of the Gold Coast hinterland on their hike through the bush, which included getting stuck in mud and going swimming in the freezing creek.
Efficient teamwork was required from each group member when constructing a bridge out of bamboo poles to cross the creek. Overall, it was a very memorable experience for everyone.
