New College Staff in 2020
Brisbane Christian College is committed to employ passionate Christian professionals who have a sense of God’s call upon their lives to reach young people for Jesus in our community. Our team brings innovation and creativity and we truly believe working at the College is a calling and not just a job.
We would like to introduce the following new teaching staff to the Brisbane Christian College Ministry Team in 2020:
Mr Robin Whig, Deputy Head of Campus (Primary)
The College is thrilled that Mr Robin Whig, a new addition to our community, is the new Deputy Head of Campus (Primary). Robin, his wife Lauren and their two children join us from Canberra, where he is currently a Director of Teaching and Learning at Canberra Grammar School serving over 2,000 students. Robin has seven years of Deputy Head experience, both in the UK and in Asia. The Whig family are incredibly excited to be joining Brisbane Christian College and the Life Church community, to serve the staff, students and families and to see His Kingdom come and His will be done in the lives of our families and community at large.

Mr David Richards, Student Enrichment Services (SES) Primary Coordinator
I am very excited to be joining the family at Brisbane Christian College for 2020. I have a passion to see young lives impacted by the real and life-changing love of Jesus Christ and I am so eager to be a part of a team that has Christ at the centre of everything they do. I have worked in the State Education System for the last ten years, working predominantly in Special Education. I love getting to see the unique gifts that God has placed on each child’s life and it is such a privilege to be able to help inspire, grow and nurture the future generation. My wife and I are excited to be joining Life Church South with our three children. I am looking forward to meeting and working alongside the wonderful staff, students and families of the College.
Mrs Penny Daley, Year 2 team
It is with great excitement that I join the teaching team of Brisbane Christian College once again. 2020 will be my fifteenth year in Christian education, which I started at what was then ‘Southside Christian College’. I love teaching, leading and learning and my recent Masters study at CHC has strengthened my passion for distinctly Christian education. I view teaching as a ministry and endeavour to create a safe, loving classroom community, where every child cares for one another and has the opportunity to discover their unique gifts and talents. I can’t wait to meet my new students and I look forward to seeing you all next year.
Mrs Cath Wilson, Prep team
I am excited to see what God has in store for all our students, staff and our wonderful school community. I have often been asked why I love working in the early years of education. To put it simply, it is because it is the age group that sees the most change. The first years of Primary School are where we witness our students learning to read and where numbers begin to make sense to them. It is where they are free to ask questions, experiment and seek answers. It is where I can inspire a love of learning and be the great encourager to see them successfully persevere through challenges. It is also where we have lots of fun while learning. I love that I can show our students how God is in every moment of our day and watch them on their faith journey as they build their relationship with Jesus.
Miss Sarah Gourley, Year 4 team
I am honoured to have the opportunity to join and become a part of the Brisbane Christian College community in 2020. I have a passion for learning, and I am excited to share this passion with the curious minds of my students. I firmly believe that every student deserves to feel valued, supported, safe and empowered within the classroom, and that as the teacher, I am responsible for creating and maintaining this kind of Christ-centred environment. I love seeing children fall more in love with Jesus and watching them grow and flourish in their relationship with Him. It is a privilege to be involved in the learning journey of the up-and-coming generation of leaders and world changers, and to instil in them the foundations of a Bible-based, Christ-centred way of living.
MIDDLE AND SECONDARY CAMPUS
Mrs Rohanna Edgeworth, Year 6 team (Semester 1)
I am thrilled to be joining the Year 6 teaching team in 2020 for Semester 1. It is an honour to be continuing the learning journey with this particular cohort, as many students I have previously taught are familiar with me from the Brisbane Christian College Primary School. I first joined the Brisbane Christian College community and then Year 6 team in 2008. It is my desire to see each of my students grow closer in their relationship with Jesus as I help them further discover and appreciate who God made them to be with their own unique gifts and talents. As a staff member of Brisbane Christian College, I feel blessed on a daily basis to serve God and live out my calling as a teacher in such a positive and nurturing environment. I look forward to partnering with families to help children reach their full potential in Year 6.
Mrs Jenny Huntington, Year 6 team
It is with great anticipation and excitement that I join the Middle School community at Brisbane Christian College as Year 6 teacher in 2020. Over the past twenty years, I have worked in a diverse range of public and private educational environments both in Australia and overseas. During this time, I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of year levels, lead curriculum projects, implement new systems and have developed coaching and school improvement programs for individuals and groups. Brisbane Christian College is a dynamic and Christ-centred community that I feel genuinely led to be a part of. I can’t wait to be part of the Middle School and I look forward to meeting students and parents.
Mrs Elisabeth Forrester, Year 8 team
Mrs Forrester has been with the College for 6 years teaching in Upper Primary and is moving into the Year 8 team in 2020. She brings excellence into everything she does and has been instrumental in assisting the Primary School to raise our academic standards, particularly in English. No doubt many of her former students will be excited to reconnect with her in her new role and continue the excellent foundation that has been established already. While she will be missed on Primary Campus, she will be an amazing addition to the Middle School team.
Mr Matthew Reeves, Legal and Business Studies
I believe passionately in the value of Christian education and equipping students through a Christian world view from early childhood through to Senior School, as well as preparing them for life after school. Having taught within the Christian School system for all my teaching career I acknowledge that the impartation of a Christ-based education across all stages is the key to transforming and releasing students into the future God has for them. An area that I am heavily interested in, is that of Business entrepreneurship with a social enterprise focus. I believe that young Christian business owners should be encouraged, mentored and guided to grow kingdom-focused businesses that not only create missional wealth but build a generational legacy within the local Christian community. I look forward to joining the Ministry Team at Brisbane Christian College and building upon the strong foundations of the existing Business Studies program.
Mr Michael Baumgartner, Sports Administrator/Coach
We are excited to welcome Michael into the Ministry Team in 2020 as he supports Mr Matt Allen-Ankins in further developing excellence into our sporting and athletic programs. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring young people and building strong teams. Mr Baumgartner will be coaching some of our sporting teams and supporting sport events and administration.
