Free Dress Day (PP-Yr 12)
On Tuesday, 18 February, Brisbane Christian College is hosting a free dress day on all three of our campuses, to raise money to provide relief to individuals and families who have been affected by bushfires. The theme is red and yellow to show support for the many brave firefighters who continue to risk their lives to selflessly help others.
All funds raised will be given to the Australian Christian Churches International (ACCI) Bushfire Relief Appeal who provide much-needed relief during the initial emergency. This includes:
- food distribution to emergency services and affected families
- providing clothing and other emergency supplies
- giving practical support to farmers, including livestock feed and
- supporting chaplains.
The funds will also be used to support communities to recover and rebuild in the months following this disaster. We are continuing to work closely with our Australian Christian Churches (ACC) Churches and Chaplains, so communities affected receive the help they need.
We usually ask for a gold coin donation to participate in College free dress days however we ask that you prayerfully consider how your family can contribute to this cause.
You are not expected to go out and purchase outfits for this free dress day, however, as you prepare, we encourage you to have a discussion as a family about the opportunity we have to be a blessing to others and pray for those who are experiencing this crisis.
The College currently provides a school banking service in conjunction with the Commonwealth Bank. A number of our parents take advantage of this service to deposit money each Tuesday into their children’s accounts for the future. We are blessed to have volunteers who come every Tuesday morning for a few hours to process all the children’s deposits. Points are earned for each deposit, which can be cashed in for rewards, such as handballs, money banks and a variety of fun items.
We would love to have some more volunteers to become part of our small but dedicated team. If you can help out for a few hours on a Tuesday morning, we would love to hear from you. We need at least one person who can come in regularly and one person who can come in occasionally to support the process. If you think you could help out, please contact our office or email James Collins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Primary Sports Forum Facebook Page
This is a closed Facebook group for our Primary Campus that will allow you to keep up to date on all sports events, ask questions and share photos/videos from our College events. Please ensure you take any personal concerns to class teachers as they will not be resolving issues on this page.
Please note, this is simply an additional form of communication, not a replacement forum for the e-News / website / notes home for details of events. This page is designed as a hub for all things sports-related including weekly sports, extra-curricular sporting activities, District events and additional training. It is a space to share our student’s incredible sporting achievements, as well as memories captured at each of these events.

Each child in Year 1- Year 5 will have six lessons in Terms 1 and 4 to develop their water safety and foundational stroke knowledge. Students will need a College swimming bag and swimming cap (available through our College Uniform Shop or from School Locker). Lessons are from Week 3 to Week 5 and are intended to lead into our Primary Swimming Carnival (Yrs 3-5) in Week 6. Please wear sun smart swimwear and discuss any concerns around swimming competency with your classroom teacher.

Chess Mates is teaching at Brisbane Christian College!
Chess Mates specialises in teaching chess to children of all age groups and skill levels. The team is dedicated to teaching chess in a fun and engaging way, so that children of any age can join in regardless of experience level. They teach younger students through songs and stories and for older or more advanced students they teach openings, strategies and forward planning. Chess Mates doesn’t focus on winning (in fact, they teach kids how to deal with winning and losing). Instead, they focus on making new friends and having fun while learning.
