2020 ICAS Update

Please note that despite the Covid-19 shutdown, ICAS will still be running in Term 3 as planned for most subjects and students.

ICAS are externally set assessments administered by UNSW Global. They occur in a range of different subjects which allow you to see your child’s progress measured against age equivalent peers in Australia and South East Asia. Invitations are open in TASS Parent Lounge and we would encourage all parents to look at these and enrol their children.

During the last week, UNSW Global has advised the College of 2 major changes to ICAS 2020 for this unprecedented year. These are as follows:

1) The Writing Assessment will no longer be available to students of all year levels and
2) No assessment (in any subject) will be offered to Year 11 and 12 students

The College will reimburse those families:

1) Who have already accepted the TASS Parent Lounge invitations and paid for the ICAS Writing Assessment or
2) Whose children are in Year 11 or 12 and they have accepted and paid for any available assessments.
These families should have already been notified.

The writing assessment has been removed from the visible invitations on TASS Parent Lounge and Year 11 and 12 students are no longer invited to participate in any of the other subject assessments.

We apologise for any confusion or disappointment caused with these changes and we thank you for your patience once again, as we navigate this interesting year together.

Year 10 Immunisations

Brisbane Christian College is participating in Queensland Health’s School Immunisation Program. All Year 10 students will be offered free meningococcal ACWY vaccinations during Term 3. Consent forms will be sent home with Year 10 students this week, and must be signed and returned to Student Services by Friday, 5 June. Only students with a signed and completed ‘Yes to Vaccination’ card will be vaccinated. If you do not wish your child to be vaccinated, please complete the ‘No to Vaccination’ section on the consent card and return.

New Drive Through & Drop 'N' Go at the Middle and Secondary Campus

We are very happy to announce that the off-street Drive Through and Drop ‘N’ Go road is now complete and is functioning well. This has greatly reduced the traffic on Frewin Street for our neighbours and has improved drop-off and pick-up times within the College site for families. Please note the following:

  • All vehicular access to the Middle and Secondary Campus is through Gate 1 on Fairlie Terrace, which provides access to the new Drop ‘N’ Go Zone next to the covered basketball courts.
  • This new road is one way only.
  • Gate 2 on Frewin Street is for exit only.

The Drop ‘N’ Go video and Map and Guidelines Download explains the new driveway and how to use the Drop ‘N’ Go Zone on the Middle and Secondary Campus. Thank you for your patience and assistance in making this new procedure a smooth and effective one.
