Our History and Heritage Aligns Our Future

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…
As we start 2018 in our 34th year as a College we are thankful for what has gone before us, while fixing our eyes on the author and finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ, for what is ahead of us. Our Church planted our College in 1985 through faith, prayer, sacrificial giving and obedience. Around sixteen children started that year in the small room behind the Life HQ Auditorium, and today we have over 900 children and almost 600 families being impacted by our team over three campuses.
Our College ministry was established and aligned under the covering, encouragement and authority of our Church and exists today to see our families and children blossom in a Christ-centred community. Every year over the last six years between 100-150 children have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Around 600 to 900 children have started their relationship with Christ or recommitted their lives by confessing with their mouths and believing in their hearts that Jesus died on the cross for their sins so they could be forgiven. Children’s eternities are being changed every day.
Jesus gave us HIS new prophetic name, Brisbane Christian College, in 2011 reinforcing to us the importance of Christ being the centre of every decision made within our College. Our name of Brisbane Christian College is the Lord’s promise, vision and aspiration for our College’s future. Imagine what we can and will become as we daily place Jesus in the centre of everything that we do, say and think? There are no ceilings in Christ for our children, families and team.
On 28 May 2013 Mr Eggins and I sat in back left corner of our new Middle and Secondary Campus auditorium and heard that Nyanda State High School was possibly closing. Since then, we have identified over 50 miracles that the Lord initiated for us to become the new stewards of this campus, including in 1997 our College Bus team, lead by Mr O’Grady, parking on Frewin Street and asking the Lord to give us the old Salisbury State High School site. Nineteen years later these prayers were answered on the first day of the 2016 school year.
Parents, please partner with your College ministry team in prayer as we look ahead to what the Lord wants to do through us: Jesus wants us to become the preferred place of learning for HIS glory, Jesus wants us to influence the educational landscape of our Nation for HIS glory, Jesus wants us to see our children, families and team rise up through the power of the Holy Spirit to love Jesus with all our mind, strength and heart.
The College Management Team and I are blessed to have a dynamic ministry team called and anointed to see lives transformed. Our College team serve our children in a way that allows the power of Jesus Christ to be seen, felt and heard on a daily basis. Without our team’s love in action Brisbane Christian College would not be the amazing place that it is and is becoming. To have a Christ-centred College you must have Godly leadership and we are empowered by our Church Oversight led by Ps Geoff and Ps Lee, and the College Board led by Dr Herschell. These two leadership teams ensure that the College as a ministry of Life Church will always stay MISSION TRUE in reaching children and families with the love, grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ while aspiring to holistic excellence.
I conclude with the Lord’s truth for every part of our lives that Jesus gave me in October 2010 before I started as Principal of the College in 2011. Psalms 133 says that it is pleasant when God’s people live in unity, and where there is unity, God bestows His blessing.
Our best days are ahead of us family, as we continue to walk in unity, prayer, humility and repentance.
In partnership with you, as we raise strong, resilient and Godly young men and women,
Mr Sean Morrison
