Our Father’s Heart
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…
Within the Life Church and Brisbane Christian College family there is a deep awareness that we are intimately made and known by our Creator. In the Old Testament in Psalm 139 13-16, God clearly reveals to us that we have been created by HIM and we are individually loved and known by name. This is a powerful truth which is central to how we love our children.
Psalm 139: 13-16
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
Our College Ministry Team is continually asking the Holy Spirit to enlarge our capacity to love our children and families through HIS power. We are prayerfully seeking the Lord’s heart for each child and family. We are committed to becoming HIS real expression of authentic, life-changing and empowering love. Jesus knows and calls us into an eternal relationship with HIM by name, and our team daily connects, believes and journeys with our children by name.
We are intentionally developing all of our structures and strategies across our College to strengthen dynamic relationships with our families and to know our children in a deeper and more meaningful way. The introduction of Chaplain Fiona for our Primary Campus, our two-year Primary class rotation, the strengthening of our Parent Reps, the further development of parent volunteers, and the Principal spending every Tuesday on the Primary Campus are all ways that we are growing stronger in our resolve.
Within the Middle and Secondary Campus the team have established numerous structures that intentionally break groupings of our children into smaller numbers, enabling us to truly journey with your child and to know each child in our care by name. Examples of this are six Houses led by our Heads of House; Family Groups consisting of a cross-section of Years 6-12 children in the same House who stay in that group until they graduate; the introduction of more co-curricular experiences where smaller groups of children connect, train and practice together with a member of our team to play, perform and connect, and our Heads of Year travel up a year level each year with their cohort of children. In Secondary, many of our children have the same teacher in their chosen subjects for at least two years and in many cases for four years from Years 9-12, all overseen by our new Head of Secondary.
The introduction of our Head of Middle School, the Middle School Learning Hub and our team’s focus to engage with each child ensures that our children in Years 6-8 have a special space to call their own and to be known by name as they start their high school experience. In the Middle School our children in Years 6 and 7 have one core teacher, with our Year 8s moving towards having two main role models to support their development. The introduction of Chaplain Saskia and College Pastor Dan adds another layer of love and support as we strategically ensure that every child is known by name across our College.
Positive, growing and dynamic relationships across our community are paramount as we build a Christ-centred community that honours and glorifies Jesus in all that we do and desire.
Please prayerfully join your team in seeing our passion and relationships grow from strength to strength.
