Students Leading in STEM Competition
Trivia, bridge building and cup towers that reach the sky…this is just a snapshot of what the STEM Competition entails. Griffith University’s STEM Challenge is a weekly competition for Years 5 to 8 students across Brisbane. Twelve of our students have been representing our College by eagerly completing the challenges that have come their way. The challenges change weekly, allowing the competition to cover a broad range of topics across Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. All challenges aim to link learning to real world applications, putting what the children are doing into a larger perspective.
Our children have been doing exceptionally well in these challenges each week. Out of eighteen teams competing in the Secondary Division, our Year 8 team is currently in 1st place with our Year 7 team coming 4th. In the Primary division, our Years 5 and 6 teams are doing well with Year 6 coming 2nd and Year 5 team also coming 4th. At the end of the term, the top ten teams in Brisbane will be competing in the Grand Final, which will be held at Griffith University.
Well done to our children for their success so far! We look forward to seeing what they will accomplish and achieve for themselves and for our College in the weeks to come.
