Dates and Events

TERM 3, Week 2:

Introducing our New College Pastor

It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse the appointment of Saskia Hill as our College Pastor, and Kym Lam Sam as our newest College Chaplain. I am confident that Saskia and our Chaplaincy team will continue to build on the effective ministry that has been established in our College. The College Pastor is a significant role across the life of our College and Church and Saskia has proven herself as an incredible minister and leader both at Life Church and Brisbane Christian College. I ask that you join us in praying for Saskia and our Chaplaincy team as they minister to our students and families.

Pastor Geoff Blight

ICAS Testing in Term 3

Brisbane Christian College is delighted to once again offer ICAS testing in 2019. These tests are an optional choice by parents. They cost $15.95 per test, which is not covered by regular College fees. The registrations and payments are done through Parent Lounge. Please note the cut off dates for registration. After these dates, registrations will be closed and no further registrations will be accepted.

ICAS testing offers parents the opportunity to have their child’s progress assessed on a national scale. A detailed breakdown of strong and weak areas is also provided. Distinction and high distinction certificates will be given out at Awards Evening. In 2019, the tests will be online so you will not receive question papers with the certificates as in previous years. Read More …

Chess Mates

This is not your average chess class, but rather a movement that is changing the world through a new kind of chess education. We are passionate about the importance of creating change and we have impacted the lives of students throughout many communities by instituting the building blocks for development, with help from the critical and creative skills that come hand in hand with fun and exciting chess education.

Our team is dedicated to teaching chess in a fun and educational way, so that children of any age can join in, regardless of experience level. We teach younger students through stories and songs, allowing them to understand concepts that may have hard to grasp before. For older and more advanced students, we teach openings, strategies and tactics through the use of games and team-based chess puzzles.

If you wish for your child to be part of an evolutionary way of learning chess – one that allows their creative, mental and social sides to develop, as well as to empower others – we would love to see you there!

About the Classes

  • The program will be available for students from Prep to Year 5
  • Classes run from 3.00pm to 4:00 pm in B block every Thursday
  • The cost will be $10 per session

For more information and to sign up for Chess Club, please email or call Ash on 0415 256 452. For every person who enrols, they will receive a chess board.
