Secondary School
Years 9-12
At Brisbane Christian College, Secondary School is a season of growth, purpose and preparation.
We believe every student has been uniquely created with gifts, potential and calling, and our role as a College is to help them develop these with confidence, integrity and faith.
As students move towards their Senior years of schooling, the transition into Secondary school allows us to walk alongside them as they grow in maturity, deepen their understanding and begin to shape the future they are stepping toward.
These years are about more than academic achievement. They are about becoming young adults who think deeply, lead responsibly, serve others well and approach life with curiosity, resilience and conviction. From Years 9-12, students are guided to discover their strengths, explore future possibilities and prepare confidently for life beyond school.
Through strong teaching, pastoral support and meaningful opportunities, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and begin shaping pathways that reflect their strengths and future aspirations.Â

The Heart of Secondary School
Becoming the Person God Created You to Be
Secondary School is a time of increasing independence, responsibility and identity formation.
At Brisbane Christian College, we intentionally create an environment where students are challenged, supported and encouraged as they grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Our desire is for every student to:
- Develop academic depth and critical thinking
- Build confidence in their abilities and future direction
- Strengthen character, resilience and personal responsibility
- Engage meaningfully in leadership and service
- Explore their gifts, interests and passions
- Grow in faith, purpose and understanding of God’s calling
This is a season where students are not only preparing for assessments and exams – they are preparing for life.
Building Foundations That Last
Faith is intentionally woven throughout every aspect of life at Brisbane Christian College.
Through Christian Studies, Chapel, prayer and everyday conversations, students are encouraged to deepen their understanding of God, strengthen their character and develop a faith that is personal, authentic and lived out in everyday life.
We partner with families in helping students become compassionate, thoughtful and courageous young people who positively influence the world around them.
Academic Learning
Challenging Minds, Equipping Futures
Our Secondary curriculum is designed to challenge students to think critically, communicate effectively and engage deeply with their learning.
In Years 9 – 10, students experience a broad and engaging curriculum that strengthens foundational knowledge while allowing exploration of individual interests.
In Years 11 – 12, students choose from a range of academic and vocational pathways that support their future goals, whether that includes university study, vocational education, apprenticeships or employment.
We aim to develop learners who are not only capable academically, but adaptable, thoughtful and equipped to thrive in a changing world.
Pathways for Growth
From Exploration to Direction
Secondary School is deliberately designed as a journey.
As students mature, they move from discovering who they are and what interests them to making informed decisions about where they are heading and how they will get there.
Years 9–10
Growing in Identity and Direction
In Middle School, students begin their exploration in a variety of subjects. Progressing into Years 9 and 10 in Secondary School, students now have a clearer idea of their interests, strengths and future pursuits.
During this stage, students:
- Build strong academic foundations
- Explore elective subjects and areas of interest
- Develop independence and effective study habits
- Participate in camps, service experiences and leadership opportunities
- Begin thinking intentionally about future pathways and career possibilities
These years are about discovering strengths, building confidence and developing a clearer understanding of who they are becoming.
Years 11–12
Focused Preparation for the Future
As students enter the final years of schooling, they begin to focus their learning toward their future aspirations and post-school pathways.
Supported by career education and personalised guidance, students make informed decisions about subjects and opportunities that align with their strengths, interests and goals.
Students are encouraged to:
- Select subjects aligned with future aspirations
- Pursue ATAR, Applied, VET or blended learning pathways
- Develop independence and personal accountability
- Engage in leadership, mentoring and service opportunities
- Prepare for university, vocational training, apprenticeships or employment
Our goal is for every graduate to leave with clarity, confidence and purpose.
Take the next step and discover our programs, community, and fees.
Beyond the Classroom
Secondary School is shaped by experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.
These include:
- Year 9 Outdoor Education challenges (resilience and teamwork development)
- Year 10 Adventure Camp (Expedition and Adventure experience)
- Year 11 Retreats focused on leadership and reflection
- Reflections Program (Year 12 culmination experience)
- School productions and performing arts opportunities
- Sporting pathways and representative teams
- Leadership development programs
These experiences are designed to grow confidence, character and connection.
A community of Growth and Belonging
Known, Supported and Encouraged
As students move through their Secondary years, connection and wellbeing remain a priority.
Through mentor groups, Heads of Year and strong relationships with staff, students are known, supported and guided throughout the seasons and challenges of these years.
We believe students thrive when they feel valued, connected and genuinely known.
Our commitment is to create a community where every student experiences a strong sense of belonging while growing into the person they are becoming.
Preparing for What Comes Next
Graduation is not the finish line – it is the beginning of the next chapter.
Whether students pursue university, vocational training, apprenticeships, employment or other opportunities,
our desire is that they conclude their years at Brisbane Christian College equipped with the knowledge, character, faith and confidence to thrive in their futures ahead.
Every pathway is different, but our goal remains the same:
to help students step into their future with clarity, purpose and conviction.
